Seniors | Level 7 & Above

Dance Styles

  • Ballet

Level 7 and above ballet prepares students as they work towards their major examinations: Pre-elementary, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced. From Pre-elementary the exam syllabus includes pointe work which students, if granted permission, can undertake.

  • Jazz

Level 7-10 Jazz introduces different styles of Jazz to students, and requires strength and flexibility. As our most senior students they are expected to be respectful, hard working and role models for our younger students.

  • Tap

Senior Tap expands students’ knowledge of tap steps, combing them together into more complex combination steps. It also continues to develop a strong sense of musicality, rhythm and clear beats.

  • Acrobatics

Acrobatics is the new trend in dance. In this fun high energy class, students will learn flips and trick and do the strengthening and conditioning needed to perform such advanced skills.

  • Ballet Technique

Due to the increased demands in ballet, students are required to participate in a technique class, which allows students to focus technique rather than learning exam work.

  • Jazz Technique

Jazz technique is a brilliant class for students to develop their skills in Jazz. This class is required if students wish to undertake their Jazz examinations. It has a particular focus on strength, conditioning and flexibly, and also gives students a chance to learn new acrobatic skills.

  • Hip Hop

Hip Hop classes are designed to introduce students to this modern style of dance and diversify our dancers. They are fun classes, that cater to beginners and advanced students. While there is no exam work done in this class, students do participate in the end of year All Stars concert.

  • Musical Theatre

Musical theatre develops our senior students’ performance skills. This class has a focus on both singing and dancing, including some vocal coaching and Broadway dance styles. Intermediate dancers are often chosen for featured roles in musical theatre routines.

  • Performance Group

Performance group allows our most dedicated students the opportunity to perform at many events and competitions throughout the year. They are expected to be diligent students as they learn two competition routines and work on more advanced skills.

  • Contemporary

The philosophy of Studio D is to give every student the most professional and enjoyable dance experience possible. We strive to help our students build self-confidence, poise, determination and a sincere love and appreciation for dance.
