Melbourne City Ballet – The Nutcracker

by studioD on December 19, 2017 , No comments

Two of our Junior dancers, Hannah and Tahlia were given the opportunity to dance with the Melbourne City Ballet, in their December production of The Nutcracker!

We know it was a magical experience for the girls. It has been so exciting for our Studio D dancers to participate in professional ballets across Victoria! We hope there are many more performances to come!

Free Trial and Bring a Friend Week

by studioD on November 15, 2017 , No comments

To celebrate the end of 2017, Studio D is holding a free trial week in the week after the concert.  Any enrolled student or new interested children may attend any class during the week of Monday 20th November – Saturday 25th November. Students may also bring a friend from outside Studio D to class.

Studio D students should wear their normal class uniform to these classes. Friends and interested children should wear clothing suitable for dance, eg. bike shorts, leggings etc…

Teachers will ensure classes include the new students and are a fun introduction to dance. It would be a great idea for current students to attend classes they wish to be in next year to get a taste for the class. Please refer to the timetable page on the website for when classes are held, all classes will run at their normally scheduled time.

Halloween Dress Up Week

by studioD on November 3, 2017 , No comments

Studio D was taken over by cobwebs and skeletons this week as well as some very scary (but also very funny) dressed up dancers!

It was fun to have a relaxed class this week with lots of treats, and maybe a few tricks! 😛

Masterclasses 2017

by studioD on June 1, 2017 , No comments

Each year Southern Federation of Dance holds their Exam Masterclasses.
Students in Level 3 and above, ballet, jazz and tap, are able to perform their exam work, in class with students from other SFD schools, for feedback. This is an invaluable opportunity for both teachers and dancers to ensure the syllabus work is correct and that they are on track for their upcoming exams. Masterclasses are compulsory for all students wishing to complete their exams.

by studioD on May 17, 2017 , No comments

Our Mums were invited into class this week to share a class with their children. With preparation for exams happening we had great fun teaching our mums our exam exercises (especially hip sways) and watching them be fairy ballerinas.

Thank you mums for everything you do especially taking us to and from dancing, organising costumes, doing our buns and make up and supporting our dance dreams <3Mothers Day 2017 4 Mothers Day 2017 3 Mothers Day 2017 2 Mothers Day 2017 5

Studio D Own Choreography Competition 2017

by studioD on May 9, 2017 , No comments

What an amazing day of talented dancers! Congratulations to dancers, student teachers and teachers for all of their hard work. A huge thank you to Kelly Miller our fantastic adjudicator and all of our volunteers, Siobhan, Mairead, Stephanie, Bridget, Kathleen, Melissa, Sarah and Dave.

I was thoroughly impressed with the standard of choreography our dancers performed on the weekend. It was very inspiring to see the creativity of our Studio D dancers and the way in which they executed their dances.

Congratulations too, to our special performances! It was wonderful to see what you have been working on in class and to see such great work so early in the year.
