Studio D USA Trip 2015

We had an absolutely fabulous trip to the US. It was filled with many wonderful memories, amazing workshops, fantastic performances and the creation of some gorgeous new friendships.

Our trip began in New York with multiple workshops at dance studios in New York, including the Joffrey Ballet School and Alvin Ailey’s American Dance Theatre. We spent the afternoon on carriage rides around Central Park and toured behind the scenes of Wicked.

Then it was off to LA to meet up with the rest of the group arriving from Melbourne.

Disney

In Hollywood and Los Angeles we performed at Universal Studios, on the Hollywood Boulevard, Disneyland and California Adventure Park. We participated in workshops at Disneyland and at Millennium Dance Complex. Finally we spent a whole day in rehearsals perfecting the parade routine and then performing the parade along with 500 dancers down Disneyland’s main street in front of huge crowds. It was exhausting but also exhilarating to perform to so many people!

Throughout the trip it was so lovely to see the gorgeous relationships between the Disney Buddy pairs. Thank you to the big buddies for being so diligent with your younger buddies to ensure they had everything they needed to perform on stage and for being so responsible that the parents felt comfortable leaving their children in your care. Thank you to the younger buddies for being endless sources of entertainment, having such great attitudes and for cooperating so well with your big buddies.

We thoroughly enjoyed the trip and of course thank Kelly, Rhonda, Melissa, the chaperones, the Committee, Dance Around the World and Disney for giving us this fabulous opportunity!

Disney Team Performance – Mt Waverley Primary School Autumn Festival

by studioD on March 21, 2015 , No comments

Studio D was very excited to be invited to perform at Mount Waverley Primary School’s Autumn Festival. It was a great chance for our Disney dancers to practise performing outside and not on a stage.

Well done dancers for maintaining your professionalism and dancing through when the music cut out, I was very proud of how you conducted yourselves during the performance. Not long to go before we leave, so make sure you’re practising hard!

See you at the airport!

Disneyland 2015

by studioD on January 20, 2013 , No comments

We had such a blast last year that we’re doing it again.

We danced on Hollywood Blvd, at Universal Studios, California Adventure and in the Main St Parade at Disneyland. Not to mention the workshops, shopping, dining and sightseeing. The experiences that were shared by all dancers and families will never be forgotten.

In total there were 87 people that came away with us including dancers, brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents and a family of non-dancers that just wanted to come to Disneyland.

Itineraries and costs are being finalised and an invitation will soon go out to all families, so stay tuned.
